Yannick Nézet-Séguin lets Brahms shine with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, “throwing off historical ballast to reveal the compositional core ... no dark, Germanic heaviness, but transparency, bright colors and clearly articulated phrasing” (Der Tagesspiegel). Recorded in Baden-Baden, the idyllic spa town loved equally by the German composer, who completed his first and second symphonies here, and the dynamic Canadian conductor, artistic director of the city's summer festival.
