For her debut album, South Korean flautist Jeehee Han, together with renowned musical collaborators, explores three works by Carl Reinecke (1824–1910), a composer who played a decisive role in shaping the Romantic flute repertoire.
Han has felt a close connection to Reinecke’s music since her youth: “I fell in love with his works when I was thirteen,” she says. This personal bond runs like a thread through the entire album and gives the programme a distinctive character.
In the famous Sonata Undine, Jeehee Han performs alongside star pianist Lang Lang. Speaking about her interpretation, he says: “Jeehee has put her heart into this challenging repertoire. I’m very happy to be part of this wonderful project.”
In the Flute Concerto in D major and the Ballade in D minor for flute and orchestra, Han is joined by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Vasily Petrenko. “Miracles happened when we played together,” says the South Korean flautist about the collaboration.
The result is a debut that not only sheds new light on Reinecke’s music, but also captures its enduring appeal in a vivid and compelling way.
