Joe Hisaishi, the internationally acclaimed Japanese composer and conductor, joins forces with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and renowned harpist Emmanuel Ceysson for an exceptional world-premiere recording. At its heart are Hisaishi’s Symphony No. 3 “Metaphysica” and a virtuosic new Harp Concerto composed specifically for Ceysson.
The idea for the Harp Concerto took shape in 2023, following Hisaishi’s appearance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl before an audience of 17,500. Developed in close collaboration with Emmanuel Ceysson, the work reimagines the expressive possibilities of the harp. Across three movements, it replaces conventional notions of delicacy with driving rhythms, bold gestures, and striking emotional intensity.
The recording is complemented by Symphony No. 3 “Metaphysica,” which premiered in 2021 as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the New Japan Philharmonic. Inspired by Gustav Mahler, Hisaishi combines intricate rhythmic structures with richly textured orchestration, creating a compelling symphonic work of remarkable expressive force.
With this release, Joe Hisaishi once again demonstrates his singular ability to fuse cinematic lyricism with symphonic grandeur. The result is a major musical event that will captivate both classical music enthusiasts and admirers of his iconic film scores.
Available on CD, Black Vinyl, and the collectible Crystal Clear Vinyl, Hisaishi's new album offers a range of formats for music lovers and collectors alike. Exclusive D2C editions featuring a signed art card are also available with both the CD and the Crystal Clear Vinyl, providing a limited opportunity to own a unique piece of this exceptionnal release.
Available on CD, this edition presents Joe Hisaishi’s landmark recording in a timeless physical format, perfect for classical music enthusiasts and collectors seeking to experience these world-premiere works in pristine audio quality.
