Andrè Schuen can be heard with his “fresh, wonderfully full baritone” (Gramophone) and “natural musicality” (New York Times) on his new album of arias and songs by Mozart.

In an artfully arranged program, the singer celebrates his deep and long-standing connection to the composer and the place where he was born and created his music, Salzburg.
“This album is conceived as my personal journey with Mozart's music,” explains Schuen, “I didn’t want to merely present a collection of Mozart arias for baritone or bass, but rather to create interesting connections and transitions in such a way that the listener is drawn into the music and an overall musical dramaturgy emerges.”

The recording was made at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, accompanied by the Mozarteum Orchestra under the direction of its chief conductor Roberto González-Monjas. Star mandolinist Avi Avital accompanies Don Giovanni's famous mandolin aria and “Komm liebe Zither”, while soprano Nikola Hillebrand can be heard in duets from Die Zauberflöte, Le Nozze de Figaro and Don Giovanni. Schuen also performs three works for voice and piano with his long-standing duo partner Daniel Heide, with whom he has already released acclaimed DG recordings of Schubert's “Die schöne Müllerin”, “Schwanengesang” and “Winterreise”.

“A magnificent, free voice, used with feeling and unchanging sensitivity for the text.” (Gramophone)
