Profound musicianship, dazzling technical brilliance and emotional honesty have helped Alice Sara Ott establish her place among the world’s leading classical performers.
On her new album “John Field ∙ Complete Nocturnes”, Alice dedicates herself to the compositions of John Field: “Engaging with these Nocturnes was a deeply rewarding experience. Their beauty and grace affected me profoundly and enriched my life while I was preparing for this recording”.
Highly praised by his contemporaries (Chopin, Liszt, Schumann), John Field's Nocturnes are largely unknown today.
“I hope that this complete recording of the Nocturnes – the first to find a place for itself in the Deutsche Grammophon catalogue – may perhaps inspire the occasional listener to discover Field’s music for themselves. Here, after all, is the man who bequeathed the Nocturne to posterity”.
With the purchase of this signed Vinyl edition, you will receive digital access to an extraordinary film about the project and the artist.
With your order confirmation, you will receive a voucher code by E-Mail for one month's free access to STAGE+, Deutsche Grammophon's streaming service for classical music. The film will be available there as video-on-demand from February 16, 2025.
The film delves into the world of John Field's Nocturnes, interpreted by the world-famous pianist Alice Sara Ott. It takes viewers into Alice's imagination and her deep connection to Field's music, providing a rare insight into the artist's mind during the creative process. The combination of historical locations, such as the Meistersaal in Berlin and the Library Hall in Polling, with the specially designed digital landscapes in the Hyperbowl LED studio in Munich creates an atmosphere in which the music can be experienced in a new way.
Directed by Andrew Staples, a visionary filmmaker and internationally acclaimed tenor, this project was realized by his production company Studio 2359.
The result of this artistic collaboration is a film that is far more than a mere performance. It is a visual and aural journey through the music of an almost forgotten composer who left the world one of its most beloved musical forms: the nocturne.
