For the first time, Deutsche Grammophon is releasing all of the recordings made by the exceptional pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli for the yellow label.
Benedetti Michelangeli, reverently known to his fans as “Divino Arturo”, was as famous as he was feared for his perfectionism as a performer. With his incomparable musical focus, he produced recordings that remain benchmarks long after his death. The box set includes his legendary early Beethoven recordings of Piano Concertos Nos. 1, 3 and 5, as well as Sonata 111, alongside Domenico Scarlatti's Sonatas 11, 159 and 322, recorded for Decca, and Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos. 13, 15, 20 and 21.
‘Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli was one of the most outstanding pianists of the century.’ - Gramophone
In addition to sleeves in the original cover design, the box set contains new liner notes by Cord Garben, DG producer and conductor, who worked with Benedetti Michelangeli for many years, as well as rare black-and-white and colour photographs.
