Lise Davidsen, one of the most sought-after sopranos in the world today, presents on her new album "Christmas From Norway" a delightful and personally selected collection of traditional Norwegian Christmas music and classical holiday favorites that spread the warm glow of the Scandinavian Christmas spirit. The soprano explains that it has long been her desire to record this album, as the Christmas season is not only the singer's favorite time of the year, but also embodies her vision of music: to break down barriers and make music accessible to all. "I got into music over Christmas" she recalls. "We listened to all kinds of music: choral music, pop music and Norwegian songs. A time when everyone can feel welcome to experience the beauty of classical music." Highlights of the album include "O Holy Night" and a beautiful adaptation of "Silent Night," as well as the timeless "Ave Maria" in Leontyne Price's version, which she recorded with Herbert von Karajan in Vienna on their legendary Christmas album. "I think these recordings are wonderful and so Christmassy," says Lise, expressing her admiration for these famous performances that have left an indelible mark on the festive musical landscape.
