The Blues And The Abstract Truth, recorded in February 1961, remains Nelson's most acclaimed album featuring an incredible lineup of legendary musicians:
Freddie Hubbard, Eric Dolphy, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers and Roy Haynes. And also baritone saxophonist George Barrow who does not take solos but remains a key feature in the subtle voicings of Nelson's arrangements.

Among the great songs on this album, "Stolen Moments" is the best known and has become a true Jazz classic: a 16-bar piece with solos in a conventional 12-bar blues structure in C-minor.
