Ecstatic reviews greeted Marc-André Hamelin’s first all-Chopin album, uniting and surprising critics across the world as poetry combined with Hamelin’s superhuman virtuosity. The Sunday Times noted: ‘Hamelin, a poet among virtuosos, brings sensibility and a brilliant technique in equal measure to this oft-recorded music. Spellbinding.’ The New York Times pointed to ‘an astonishing lyrical gift that increasingly comes to light’ when Hamelin plays Chopin.

Included are two mainstays of the Romantic repertoire: Chopin’s Piano Sonatas Nos 2 and 3, alongside a musical aperitif in the form of the Berceuse, Op 57.

Mastered by Sidney Claire Meyer at Emil Berliner Studios, this 180g LP is part of Hyperion’s 2026 Vinyl Edition.
