With *The Boy and the Heron – Symphonic Suite for Piano and Orchestra*, Joe Hisaishi presents a completely reimagined concert version of his award-winning score for Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning Studio Ghibli film *The Boy and the Heron*. The world premiere recording was made with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, with Hisaishi himself performing the solo piano part.
Rather than simply arranging the film score, Hisaishi developed an independent symphonic work for the concert hall. Familiar themes from the film appear in new orchestral forms and come together to form an atmospheric suite full of emotional depth. An impressive album by one of the most significant film composers of our time.
