Joan Sutherland: The Operas 1971-1988
Incl. taxes (plus applicable )
Release date: 9 January 2026
The third and final edition of Joan Sutherland's complete Decca recordings includes her opera recordings from 1971 to 1988. Here we hear Sutherland in all four female roles from Offenbach's “Les Contes d'Hoffmann” (1971), which are among the most impressive opera recordings ever made. She can also be heard in a role she never sang on stage, which has become one of the most famous opera recordings in history: Turandot with Luciano Pavarotti and Montserrat Caballé, conducted by Zubin Mehta (1972). Verdi is represented with “Rigoletto”, “La traviata”, “Il Trovatore” (including the ballet music), “Ernani”, and “I masnadieri”, while Bellini is represented with “I puritani”, “La sonnambula”, and “Norma”. Cilea's “Adriana Lecouvreur” (1988) concludes Joan Sutherland's operatic legacy at Decca.
