Joep Beving is going on a European tour in November to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his album, while a live performance at the ConcertLab, a state-of-the-art venue in Utrecht, including newly interpreted tracks, was filmed in January.
Before going into the studio earlier this year, Beving retreated to a friend’s woodland cabin for two days to revisit Solipsism. Some of the tracks he’d played many times in the decade since its release, others not at all. The slower tempos of the resulting reimagined version, Solipsism Redux, retain his essentially minimalistic style, adding further layers to the music’s contemplative nature.
“Solipsism was the start of a 10-year exploration of our relationship to reality,” says Beving. “And I’m grateful for what I’ve learned, for the people I’ve met, and for the moments of peace this music still brings me.”
